AFL Umpires’ Association

In 2015 the AFL Umpires’ Association, in partnership with Down Syndrome, Apricot Consulting and Australian Football League, launched the Fiona McBurney Match Day Experience. This incorporates an adult with Down syndrome engaged as an Umpires’ Assistant Trainer at an AFL game, with family members joining the participant in the rooms and watching from the stands.

Bank of Melbourne Neighbourhood Fund

Through the Bank of Melbourne Neighbourhood Fund, Down Syndrome Victoria has been able to maintain its commitment to the Club21 program. Club21 is a peer support and social group for adults who have Down syndrome, aged predominantly between 18-40, which aims to promote community participation and inclusion.

Bendigo Bank Clifton Hill-Fitzroy

Bendigo Bank Clifton Hill-North Fitzroy consider Community Sponsorships a unique way to build community relationships, strengthen its banking business, and enable on-going investment in community organisations and projects in the inner north Melbourne area. Since 2006, Bendigo Bank Clifton Hill-North Fitzroy has invested close to $900,000 in Community Sponsorships. Carlton Football Club

Since 2014, Carlton footballer Kade Simspon has been an ambassador for Down Syndrome Victoria. In addition, Down Syndrome Victoria and Carlton FC have enjoyed a close partnership in which the Blues assist at events and fundraising initiatives.

Melbourne Racing Club

Down Syndrome Victoria was one of the inaugural charities welcomed into the MRC Foundation. At the inaugural Charity Race Day in 2014, Down Syndrome Victoria won the Charity Cup thanks to Trust in a Gust (trained by Darren Weir and selected by ambassador Kade Simpson).

Nelson Alexander

Nelson Alexander’s connection with the local communities it serves runs deep within the company culture. Nelson Alexander is active and passionate about delivering meaningful responses to the needs of worthwhile causes. The Nelson Alexander Charitable Foundation was established in 2005 to provide a platform for staff participation in community service and since its inception has donated over $1.75 Million to individuals, charities and groups within its local community.

Racing Victoria Limited

Down Syndrome Victoria was invited to be one of 12 charities participating in the 2015 Spring Premierships, where participating horse trainers and jockeys select one of the charities to represent for the chance to raise funds for an organisation close to their heart. In 2015 Down Syndrome Victoria successfully won the Trainers’ Premiership thanks to Darren Weir. DSV also had trainer Mark Kavanagh and jockeys Michelle Payne, Brad Rawiller and Jim Cassidy nominate DSV.

Step Up for Down syndrome

Down Syndrome Victoria hosts five events in Victoria in October as part of the national Step Up for Down syndrome campaign. Complimenting our main event at Princes Park, Carlton are regional events in Bendigo, Geelong, Wodonga and Horsham.
